This is an amazingly tragic miscarriage of justice.
A law that was meant to protect people from others who would knowingly infect someone with HIV is being used to add to the stigma of HIV, and wrongly persecute people who have not deliberately endangered anyone.
There are many levels of classification for sex crimes. From the child molester to the juvenile who turns 18 and his three year girlfriend of 16 decides he has wronged her for what ever reason. These people are not sex offenders.
When these laws first came about the perpetrators were charged with manslaughter, not a sex crime. None of these people fit the description of either crime.
This is a sad pity that we would make HIV even appear to be a crime. By doing this we set back the whole movement where by "Silence=Death", and increase the stigma that promotes silence.
